It took a lawsuit to get Town action. John believes we're now at the speed counts, "do everything" point: sewering and also innovative, minimally disruptive, environmentally effective alternatives. The EPA and Barnstable Clean Water Coalition are testing one now in Marstons Mills.
The Town Council was set to allow the Town Manager to negotiate a financial deal with Commonwealth Wind. The plan? Land electric power infrastructure at Dowses, and run everything through Osterville's dense business district and year-round residential areas.
The Cape Cod Commission called short-term rentals "a significant driver of Cape Cod’s housing shortage.” A Mashpee Zoning Board member: "VRBO, renting by the week, it's killing rental markets." The Town Administrator in Orleans called it "commercialization of residential districts."
Tens of millions of us have quit jobs, changed how we work, and moved. The #1 place people left? Los Angeles, the most dense area in the U.S. with six zip codes. Barnstable was in the "Top 5" places people moved to, at #4. Why, as Americans flee density, is the Town proposing density first?
