Special election questions & answers

The special election is September 6, which is also Primary day in Massachusetts. There's a ballot for Republican primaries, Democratic primaries, and a local ballot for Precinct 5 Town Councilor: three of them in all.

If you're a registered Republican or Democrat, you'll fill out two ballots: one for your party primaries and a second one for Town Councilor.

If you asked for mail-in ballots, the two will arrive separately (and should be returned separately in their own envelopes.)

If you're an unenrolled/independent voter like about half the state, just ask for the Town Council special election ballot and envelope. You can also participate in a party primary if you want and it will not change your status as an independent voter.

(You can also vote in a party primary if you want and it will not change your status as an independent voter.)

This means you have a Democratic or Republican party primary ballot.

Soon you should receive a second ballot, sent separately, for the local Precinct 5 election. (Please mail it back in the envelope provided with it.)

Go to Town Hall, 367 Main Street, Hyannis. The TownClerk's office is on the 2nd floor.
